Can Humans Survive Without Sex?
By Romain Leick
Michel Houellebecq is back. In his new book "The Possibility of an Island," he tells a virtuoso tale of sex, science fiction and sect madness, delivering what is bound to be the hit of the fall literary season -- and ponders just how important sex drive is to the human condition.

yeah i linked it off arts and letters daily, they had the other article about houellebecq in l.a. as well. I wouldn't mind seeing that interview with the french magazine on the dvd either but getting hold of it could be a pain.

Cool. Looks interesting. Will likely have to order from the UK, which I did for Platform, as it seems to take much longer to get the U.S. Thanks for the link.
You've probably already seen this, but if not:

I recall reading that NYTimes review of Atomized and feeling pretty certain that the reviewer simply didn't get the book in a pretty fundementally way.

I''ve just brought this novel after reading 'Atomised' and 'Platform'. As you all know the addiction of a Houellebecq novel is something great, so naturally I had to get the 'Possibility of an Island.' Well i've not read much so far, but i'm thoroughly enjoying it so far. I think the thing that strikes me so early on is the way it is written, its also, in my opinion a very original idea, but also those inevitable hints of 'Brave New World' and 'Island.'
I'll post a review when I've finished, so that the guys that have not read it yet get a good idea. Instead of all those mediocritical magazines that give the guy some stupid and shallow reviews.
Thanks - Dave.
